Frequently Asked Questions

IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) is required for all carriers engaged in interstate commerce that have two axles and a gross vehicle weight exceeding 26,000 pounds or has three or more axles or is used in combination that exceed gross vehicle weight of 26,000 pounds.

The base jurisdiction is the state from which you will receive your IFTA license and to which you will submit your road tax reports and payments.

FHWA/ICC Authority is permission granted by the federal government to transport regulated freight across state lines (Interstate). Any regulated freight that is transported wholly within state lines is considered Intrastate or point to point and is thus controlled on the state level.

Our fee for filing for your FHWA/ICC authority includes filing for your U.S. DOT NUMBER.

If you file for FHWA/ICC you only need to file for permits in the following states: NM, OR, KY, NY and ID. All other states are overridden by FHWA/ICC.

If you choose not to file for FHWA/ICC, we can obtain the proper permits for any of the lower 48 states that you want to travel in.

A process agent is a representative upon whom court papers may be served in any proceeding brought against a motor carrier, broker, or freight forwarder.

Every motor carrier, or forwarder registered with the Federal Highway Administration must list the name and address of an agent for each state. This is a one-time fee, no annual fee.
